Nídia is an internationally acclaimed Afro-Portuguese producer and DJ from Vale da Amoreira, on Lisbon’s South Bank. As a member of the Príncipe record label and artistic collective, she has played a decisive role in introducing a progressive aesthetic and ethos to the contemporary alternative dance scene, and to kuduro culture in particular.

Her discography includes Nídia É Má, Nídia É Fudida (2017), named by Rolling Stone as one of the year’s best electronic music albums, and 95 MINDJERES (2023), inspired by the decisive role of women combatants in the PAIGC’s struggle for the independence of Guinea-Bissau from Portuguese colonial rule during the 1960s and 1970s.

Throughout her career, Nídia has also produced remixes for artists including Kelela, Yaeji, Elza Soares, Perfume Genius and Sudan Archives, and co-produced tracks for the last two albums by alternative pop artist Fever Ray.

In 2024, she joined forces with avant-garde percussionist Valentina Magaletti, resulting in Estradas, released by Paris-based label Latency. The album was widely acclaimed as one of the year’s standout releases by publications including Resident Advisor, Pitchfork and Artforum.
