Wairimũ Nduba is a Kenyan cultural worker whose practice is rooted in & guided by African sonic principles, which hold music to be a site of communal gathering, healing, joy, & beauty. She is a classically trained pianist who worked as a music educator before transitioning towards her current practice as a sonic researcher and historian. Nduba founded and established a digital archive titled Wer Jokenya, which seeks to celebrate Kenya’s nuanced and layered music history across time and imperial borderlines.

Through Wer Jokenya, Nduba seeks to uncover and make accessible the dynamic social and political interactions and tensions that are held within sound. With an 18 year background in ballet and contemporary dance and holding a doula certification, Nduba’s work also seeks to explore how the body carries memory and knowledge as expressed within the realm of embodied movement and expressions.
